Bellman, MD, Residency Program Director If you were an applicant, why would you choose to train in your residency program?
This last post really makes me laugh. I have been short and condescending (and certainly not always right) at Kaiser and I have NEVER been "written
up". Our attendings ALWAYS have our backs. The scenario you present could happen at any hospital, at any time--it has nothing to do with Kaiser.
Satisfaction surveys are based on PATIENT satisfaction and have nothing to do with the hurt feelings of a medicine resident. Also, being at at a university
program does not mean that your...

The culture at KP, not necessarily the urology program, is a pain in the ass. Just about anyone can write you up for just about anything... in really passive
aggressive ways. No one ever tells you to your face that they have a problem with you. Instead, you find out weeks after that someone's feelings were hurt
because you weren't kissing their ass they're used to. One of my friends got written up for being "condescending" after taking time to
explain to a medicine...

Kaiser will be starting a Robotic program in January 2008. Initially they (as in Attendings and Residents) will go to a nearby hospital with a robot to do the cases. A robot purchase is certainly in the works.

One of the real gems of urology residency programs. Really great attendings, really great residents. Have all specialties well covered. Great lifestyle for a resident. Kaiser job guaranteed when you finish residency, and in California, Kaiser is a great job to have (benefits, pension, don't have to deal with billing). Great location in heart of LA. That pension plan is something else...you can retire when you are ~55 with 60% of your salary, how great is that.
Cons: No robot, and...
