Posts: 1467 05/06/06 01:45:52	Tags : None Any comments on UCLA? I think I'm a strong applicant, coming from med school in Nebraska. I'm planning to apply next year. I've heard it's a reputable program, perhaps the best in the country. True or not true? Comments on the program, the faculty/residents, etc would be very helpful no matter who you are (former subIs, people who interviewed there, or just anyone who happens to have heard something). Thanks!

Posts: 0 05/06/06 20:30:26	UCLA is a good program with a great reputation. It is very popular not only because of its reputation but also its location. Advantages: Great reputation (some say top 3), location (if you like LA and it is the best part), all breadths of Urology covered and great transplant and female urology programs, good range of experience at a multitude of hospitals, great research Disadvantages: cost of living, questionable operating experience per people who rotated there and did not like it in the end-most people have to do a fellowship in the end, very busy, location, chairman will step down soon if that is an issue, six-year program It is hard to break into California if you have never lived in California before or are not from a great (top 10) medical school. Do a sub-I if you are really interested or there is a good chance you will not be granted an interview.
