Posts: 5 06/19/09 23:51:13	Tags : None Hey all, I just talked with some residents at my program who recommended that I do 2 months of urology (one gu one pedi) at my home program rather than 1 home rotation and 1 away. Is this sound advice? I really like my home program and would prefer to stay here, but my priority is matching somewhere period. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Posts: 3774 06/20/09 02:40:05	Overall, to answer your question I think it is difficult to say since each candidate is unique. There is not a clear cut answer given the info you've given. That said, one issue to think about is that if they look at all your letters and rotations and see that they are from one place, you could be viewed (from another program) as a person who will not likely leave that program. For example, if i your CV is all East coast heavy, it may be harder to get interviews on the West, or taken more seriously at interviews. In addition, it may really strengthen your application with letters from two institutions vs one. On the flip side, if your home program is very reputable, then that may offset some of what I've said above.
