notes from interview day...6 yr program, 3 per year - 1 yr gen surg, 4 yrs clinical urology 1 yr of research pgy-5 - well-rounded, high-volume program with all
the bases covered. relationships between resident-resident and resident-attending are very good - everyone was saying how it is a tight-knit family. very busy
in the first couple years, which is pretty much true anywhere, but in the upper years the call schedule is definitely amenable to having a life outside of
work. many residents were starting families, etc... very high-volume VA experience with a lot of autonomy. also, they have a pretty sweet gym on campus.
chicago is an awesome place - can commute from downtown in ~20 min or live in west suburbs. always a debate about loyola versus northwestern, but seemed to me
that that they were just different, with loyola maybe being a little more laid back, better VA, on location depending on your preferences - northwestern
with a little more history and research opportunities, definitely more peds attendings.

fyi - loyola residents also rotate at Children's in addition to working with Dr. Hatch so the peds experience is strong. it's a great program, but
more competitive than most people realize. i would have loed to have matched there last year.
